Per AFBF, in 2023, several automakers announced they had removed or planned to remove broadcast AM radio receivers from electric vehicles (EVs) due to electromagnetic interference generated by electric batteries. Ford even went so far as to claim they were removing AM radio from all 2024 vehicles. AM radio is a lifeline for farmers and ranchers, especially in rural areas with limited access to reliable internet or cell phone coverage.
